Structural measures taken by Modi government to clear the NPA mess created by UPA governments:
1. Banks have been asked to disclose all the hidden NPAs in their accounting books honestly and transparently.
2. Top 12 defaulters were identified under ‘Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code’ which was 25% of the total NPAs.
3. 45% of bad debts out of these 12 cases have been recovered.
4. The Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2017 has been passed to stop economic offenders from fleeing the country.
5. More than Rs. 2.10 lakh crore have been allocated for recapitalization of the banks.
6. Government has cleared the loan of $32 billion under Foreign Currency Non-Resident Account created by UPA.
