Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan have a lot in common both are formerly successful child turned teen stars whose careers fizzled as they hit adulthood.
Now with Bynes' recent DUI, the similarities between the two actresses are even more apparent, but RadarOnline reports the 'What I Like About You' star is telling friends she shouldn't be compared to Lohan, who has a long history of trouble with the law.
Bynes was arrested on April 6 after she sideswiped a police car. Sources told People magazine the 26 year old actress had been drinking at the Standard Hotel, but 'seemed fine to drive,' and 'never seemed drunk.'
'Amanda thinks it's extremely unfair that people are calling her the new Lindsay Lohan,' a source close to the actress told RadarOnline. 'Comparisons between the two are just ridiculous as Amanda has never been arrested for drug possession or for stealing anything. Yes, she got arrested for a DUI, but that doesn't mean she is headed down the same road as Lindsay.'
According to the source, Bynes doesn't know Lohan, nor does she harbor any negative feelings toward her, but she doesn't want to be lumped in with her either. Actress Amanda Bynes has been charged over two alleged hit-and-runs that occurred this year.
Bynes, best known for her role in the hit film Easy A, was involved in two accidents, on April 10 and August 4.
The latter incident involved Bynes rear-ending a vehicle, stepping out briefly to declare no damage had been done and then driving off. Investigators later determined that the crash had caused US$800 worth of damage and that Bynes had failed to exchange insurance information with the other driver and notify the police as required by law.
It isn't the first time Bynes' driving has gotten her in trouble with the law. Earlier this year, the 26-year-old was arrested after allegedly grazing a sheriff's patrol car. She was suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time, but pleaded not guilty.
Bynes is now seeking help from high places to clear her name, publicly calling on the President of the United States of America for assistance.
'Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink,' she tweeted. 'Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end.'

Police believe there is enough evidence to charge Amanda Bynes with hit-and-run -- after she allegedly rear-ended someone last week and fled the scene -- and now, they're passing the case to prosecutors ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
According to sources, LAPD officers recently made contact with Bynes following the accident and spoke with her.
After completing their investigation, we're told cops believe there is adequate evidence she committed a hit-and-run. They will be kicking the case to the L.A. City Attorney for prosecution within the next week.
It will then be up to the City Attorney whether to file a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against the actress.
TMZ broke the story ... an L.A. woman filed a police report against Bynes on August 4th, claiming the actress rammed into her -- then refused to exchange insurance information and drove away.
So far, no word from Bynes' reps.
