വരാപ്പുഴ കസ്റ്റഡി മരണത്തില്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിനെതിരെ രൂക്ഷ വിമര്‍ശനവുമായി ഹൈക്കോടതി. പൊലീസുകാര്‍ പ്രതികളായ കസ്റ്റഡി മരണം പോലുള്ള കേസുകള്‍ പോലീസ് തന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നത് ഉചിതമല്ലെന്ന് കോടതി ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. കേസ് സിബി ഐ അന്വേഷിക്കണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് ശ്രീജിത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച ഹര്‍ജി പരിഗണിക്കവെയാണ് കോടതി ഇക്കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയത്. കേസില്‍ സിബി ഐയോടും സര്‍ക്കാരിനോടും കോടതി വിശദീകരണം ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ കേസില്‍ പൊലീസ് അന്വേഷണം ശരിയായ ദിശയിലാണ് നടക്കുന്നതെന്ന് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു. അടുത്ത മാസം 4ന് ഹര്‍ജി കോടതി വീണ്ടും പരിഗണിക്കും.

Jamnagar Sessions Court today sentenced former Gujarat-cadre IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt to life imprisonment in 1990 custodial death case. Bhatt was accused in the 1989 custodial death case during his tenure. He was posted as the additional superintendent of police in Gujarat's Jamnagar at the time of the incident. He was suspended in 2011 on charges of remaining absent from duty without permission and misuse of official vehicles, and later sacked in August 2015.
