पाकिस्तान की मेज़बानी में इस्लामाबाद में होने वाला 19वां सार्क सम्मेलन स्थगित हो गया है, लेकिन इसपर अभी कोई भी औपचारिक ऐलान नहीं हुआ है। वहीं, दूसरी तरफ सार्क सम्मेलन का अध्यक्ष देश नेपाल अन्य देशों को मनाना में लगा है। आतंकवाद के मुद्दे पर पाकिस्तान को अलग-थलग करने की कोशिशों में जुटे भारत ने ऐलान किया है कि वह वर्तमान माहौल में सार्क सम्मेलन में शिरकत नहीं कर सकता। भारत के साथ अफगानिस्तान, बांग्लादेश और भूटान ने भी पाकिस्तान में आयोजित होने वाले सार्क समिट में शामिल नहीं होने का फैसला किया है। यह देश भारत की इस बात से सहमत हैं कि वर्तमान माहौल में इस्लामाबाद जाना सही नहीं है। तीनों देशों ने अपने निर्णय से सार्क समिट के मौजूदा अध्यक्ष नेपाल को अवगत करा दिया है। दूसरी तरफ सम्मेलन के बहिष्कार के लिए भारत की अपील को नकारते हुए नेपाल ने सदस्य देशों से सम्मेलन निर्धारित समय पर होना सुनिश्चित करने की अपील की है। नेपाल के विदेश मंत्रालय की ओर से जारी बयान के मुताबिक, दक्षेस के मौजूदा अध्यक्ष के रूप में नेपाल सरकार ने सम्मेलन के लिए सौहार्दपूर्ण माहौल बनाने का आग्रह किया। नेपाल सरकार ने जारी बयान में कहा, हमने इस घटनाक्रम पर गंभीरता से विचार किया है। दक्षेस के मौजूदा अध्यक्ष के रूप में क्षेत्रीय संबंधों को बढ़ावा देना नेपाल की पहली प्राथमिकता है।
