STORYLINE :
Suspected Islamic militants on Tuesday shot and killed two policemen in separate incidents in Srinagar, Indian-controlled Kashmir's main city, police said.
In the first incident an officer was standing by his vehicle in the city's Batmaloo neighbourhood when he was shot twice by gunmen, a police commander said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, but declared dead on arrival, he added.
Several hours later a second policeman was shot dead at close range while on duty in the Hazratbal neighbourhood, said police.
No militant group claimed responsibility for the shootings, which follow a similar attack on a policeman on Sunday.
It was not immediately clear if their was a connection between the shootings.
Also on Tuesday suspected militants threw a hand grenade at a group of policemen in the town of Baramullah, wounding two officers and three civilian bystanders, reported a local police

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | A video showing militants interrogating a special police officer (SPO), who was shot at and critically injured by the ultras in Pulwama district, has gone viral on social media.
SPO Aqib Wagay was shot at in his both legs by the militants in Puchal village of the south Kashmir district on Tuesday, leaving him with critical injuries. The video was shot before he was fired upon.
The 1.23 minute-long video shows that he was being questioned by militants for being involved in supply of liquor to villages from Army camp.
Immediately after being shot, Wagay was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, wherefrom he was referred to 92 Base Hospital here for specialized treatment.
A police official said Wagay is recovering in the hospital but his leg was amputated to save his life.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | The family of the abducted Special Police Officer (SPO) has made an emotional plea in a video, appealing to the militants to forgive and release him from their custody.
Mudasir Ahmad Lone was abducted by the suspected militants last night from his home in Chankitar village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
In an emotional appeal that has gone viral on social networking websites, the mother of the SPO surrounded by her three daughters, said: “He is my only son among four children. He (Mudasir) had to come back home (to quit the job) and was to declare it this Friday in the mosque. However, he got engaged in some work and didn’t get time.”
She appealed to the militants to have mercy on her and her three daughters and set Mudasir free for Allah’s sake.
“You are also my own children. I request you to kindly set him free and he will quit the job and apologise for all his mistakes. If you hear of any complaint in future you can kill all of us,” she said.
