साल 2016 के रमन मैग्सेसे अवॉर्ड की घोषणा कर दी गई है. इस सूची में दो भारतीयों के नाम भी शामिल हैं. कर्नाटक के संगीतकार टीएम कृष्णा और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता बेजवाडा विल्सन को इस साल यह पुरस्कार दिया जाएगा. बेजवाडा विल्सन कर्नाटक के एक दलित परिवार में पैदा हुए और उन्होंने सफाई कर्मचारियों के लिए मानवाधिकार की लड़ाई लड़ी. जबकि चेन्नई में पैदा हुए टीएम कृष्णा कर्नाटक के संगीतकार हैं और उन्होंने संस्कृति में सामाजिक समरसता को कायम करने की दिशा में काम किया… कृष्णा फिलहाल रूस में हैं. आपको बता दें कि यह पुरस्कार हर साल फिलिपींस के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति रमन मैग्सेसे के नाम पर दिया जाता है. यह पुरस्कार एशिया के लोगों के लिए निस्वार्थ सेवा के लिए दिया जाता है. विलसन और कृष्णा के अलावा फिलिपींस, इंडोनेशिया, लाओस और जापान के चार विदेशी लेखकों को भी 2016 का पुरस्कार दिया जा रहा है.

The list of 2016 Ramon Magsaysay awardees is out and two Indians have found a place in it. Acclaimed Carnatic musician TM Krishna and social activist Bezwada Wilson are the awardees from India. Other winners are Conchita Carpio-Morales from Philippines, Dompet Dhuafa from Indonesia, Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and Vientiane Rescue from Laos.
The award is bestowed on leaders from Asia for their selfless service to society. It is named after former Philippine president Ramon Magsaysay.
40-year-old Krishna, who was born in Chennai, has been conferred the award for 'ensuring social inclusiveness in culture.'

The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award established to perpetuate former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay's example of integrity in governance, courageous service to the people, and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society.The award is internationally-recognized as Asia's Nobel Prize counterpart and is the highest award given to Asian individuals and organizations.
Arvind Kejriwal, who is now the Delhi Chief Minister, has been vehemently opposing the Right to Information(RTI) (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The bill which is now in Parliament proposes to amend the Right to Information Act, 2005. Kejriwal is credited for activating right-to-information (RTI) movement at the grassroot level. For this contribution, he was conferred with the Ramon Magsaysay Award, considred as the Asia's equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Kejriwal's contribution to RTI activism is immense and in this sense he has a locus in the matter.
