Miss China has been crowned Miss World 2012 on Saturday, as the 23 year old aspiring music teacher scooped the victory on the soil of her homeland, China.
The glitzy finale held on the edge of the Gobi desert saw the crowd erupt into cheers as Yu Wenxia won the 2012 beauty pageant. The fire works shot up and danced into the clear skies of China after the candidate brought the title home.
“When I was young I felt very lucky because so many people helped me, and I hope in the future I can help more children to feel lucky,' Yu said when quizzed as to why she should be crowned Miss World, according to a report by Hereld Sun.
Yu appeared on the stage in a dazzling array of ball gowns and stole the hearts of the audience as she sung a popular Chinese song during the two hour finale that was watched by an estimated one billion viewers world wide.
