Bill Bellamy stops by the debate desk to discuss Vanessa Bryant's comments about not wanting to be married to someone who can't win championships.
Vanessa Bryant wants you to know she's not as bad a person as it sounds in a recent New York Magazine article.
She has been married to Kobe Bryant since April 2001, a few months before the Los Angeles Lakers star won his second of five NBA titles. And in case you thought championships were only good for legacies and ring collections, Vanessa says not so fast.
'I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships,' she tells the magazine in an article on NBA wives. 'If you're sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.'
Well, then that comes off as quite obnoxious. But hold on, Vanessa is now clarifying the statement, through TMZ, and oh yes, she plays the ol' out-of-context card.

Vanessa Bryant Says She Wouldnt Marry Someone Who Cant Win Championships.
Vanessa Bryant, NBA star Kobe Bryant's wife of 11 years, (pictured above with their two daughters) recently gave an interview to New York Magazine for a profile on basketball players' wives. And she had some interesting things to say.
On Kobe's basketball career:
'I love basketball. And I know what goes on behind the scenes, so I have a different perspective on things, but still, I do. I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships. If you're sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.'
On the fame of being married to a high-profile player:
'I don't like the limelight. There's a lot of good you can do with fame, like creating awareness for a foundation, but a lot of negativity comes along with it ... If you notice, I am the only one allowed in that tunnel [after games]. I don't like standing outside and giving him a kiss in front of all the cameras. So I stand in there to get away from them. But then the cameras end up following. And if the girls are there, sometimes, that's their kiss good night for Daddy, and when he comes home, they're asleep.'
