Du-du, du-du, du-du, du-du, DU-DU, DU-DU!

It’s that time of year: Shark Week on the Discovery Channel! And not just any Shark Week, but a special 25th Anniversary edition. It’s hard to believe it’s been a quarter of a century since one of the most popular institutions on cable debuted, and as a big shark fan, I’ve tuned in most years. Kudos to you, Discovery!

Each year Shark Week mixes all-new programming with repeats from previous years. It makes sense, it’s good business, and if you haven’t seen it before, it’s new to you. So in honor of Shark Week, I’m doing the same thing with this post.

One year ago I wrote about the little-known opportunity to dive with sharks in Las Vegas, at the Shark Reef aquarium in the Mandalay Bay resort. Lots of you read it, but if you did not, here’s the scoop:
While Shark Week shows lots of people going to places like South Africa and the Bahamas to dive with sharks, spending thousands of dollars and days or weeks in the process, very few people know that you can have a really awesome shark diving experience right on the Las Vegas Strip – and it’s far cheaper, easier and more accessible. You could also make a good argument it is more environmentally responsible. And you get to combine this fantastic experience with being in Vegas – luxe accommodations, 5-star dining, shows, golf, whatever suits your fancy.
