സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ 140 നിയമസഭ അംഗങ്ങളില്‍ 87 ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസ് പ്രതികള്‍. ഇതു പോരാത്തതിന് 61 കോടീശ്വരന്മാരും കേരള നിയമസഭയിലുണ്ട്.
ഇത് ഉത്തരേന്ത്യന്‍ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേയൊ, അയല്‍ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെയോ കണക്കല്ല. നമ്മുടെ സ്വന്തം കേരളത്തിലേതാണ്. 87ല്‍ 27 എംഎല്‍എമാര്‍ക്കെതിരെ ഗുരുതര ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകളാണു റജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. 59 സിപിഎം എംഎല്‍എമാരില്‍ 53 പേരും ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകള്‍ നേരിടുന്നുണ്ട്. കൊലപാതക, കൊലപാതകശ്രമ കേസുകളില്‍ ഏഴ് എംഎല്‍എമാര്‍ പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളതെല്ലാം സിപിഎം എംഎല്‍എമാരാണ്. 19 എംഎല്‍എമാരുള്ള സിപിഐയുടെ 12 പേര്‍ക്കെതിരെയാണ് ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകള്‍ ഉള്ളത്. 22 എംഎല്‍എമാരുള്ള കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന്റെ ഒന്‍പതു പേരും 18 എംഎല്‍എമാരുള്ള മുസ്‌ലിം ലീഗിന്റെ നാലുപേരും ആറു സ്വതന്ത്ര എംഎല്‍എമാരില്‍ നാലു പേരും ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകളില്‍പ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
കഴിഞ്ഞ നിയമസഭയെക്കാള്‍ ഈ സഭയിലാണു ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകളില്‍പെട്ടവര്‍ കൂടുതല്‍.
