కృష్ణానదికి గత పదేళ్ల తర్వాత తొలిసారిగా భారీ వరద కొనసాగుతోంది. కృష్ణాపై కర్ణాటకలో ఉన్న నారాయణపూర్ ప్రాజెక్టు నుంచి దశాబ్దం తర్వాత భారీగా వరద నీరు విడుదలవుతోంది. మంగళవారం సాయంత్రం 4.5 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల నీటిని కిందికి విడుదల చేశారు. గతంలో 2009లో కృష్ణా నది చరిత్రలోనే అత్యధికంగా శ్రీశైలం ప్రాజెక్టు వద్ద 25 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల ప్రవాహం నమోదు కాగా, నారాయణపూర్ నుంచి 2009 అక్టోబరు 2న 5.5 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల నీటిని విడుదల చేశారు. దిగువన భీమా నది నుంచి, స్థానికంగా లభ్యమైన నీటితో కలిసి జూరాలలోకి 11.14 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల వరద అప్పట్లో వచ్చి చేరింది.
