പോക്സോ നിയമം ചുമത്തുന്നതോടെ പ്രതിക്ക് കേസില്‍ നിന്ന് തലയൂരാനുളള എല്ലാ പഴുതുകളും അടയും
ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കുട്ടികൾക്കു നേരേയുള്ള ലൈംഗിക അതിക്രമങ്ങൾ തടയുന്നതിനു വേണ്ടി 2012ൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിയമം ആണ് പോക്സോ .The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences എന്നാണു പോക്സോ യുടെ പൂര്‍ണരൂപം. ലൈംഗിക ആക്രമണം, ലൈംഗിക പീഡനം, അശ്ലീലത തുടങ്ങിയ കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും കുട്ടികളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിലും ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങളുടെ വിചാരണയ്ക്കു വേണ്ടി സ്പെഷ്യൽ കോടതികൾ സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിനുമൊക്കെ വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഈ നിയമം.pocso നിയമം അനുസരിച്ച് 18 വയസ്സിൽ താഴെയുള്ളവരെയാണ് ഇതിൽ കുട്ടികൾ എന്നു നിർവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved amendments in the POCSO Act, which deals with crime against children, and included death penalty for sexual assault on minors, officials said. The amendments in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act also provide for fines and imprisonment to curb child pornography. The changes are expected to discourage the trend of child sexual abuse by acting as a deterrent due to strong penal provisions incorporated in the Act, the government said.
