Veteran South African pacer Dale Steyn sparked a controversy earlier this year after presenting his opinion on the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL). Steyn, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2020, pulled out of this year’s IPL and instead played in PSL for Quetta Gladiators. Moreover, the legendary Proteas speedster opined that PSL is “more rewarding” for a player while in IPL, there is a greater emphasis on the amount of money.
Unsurprisingly, Steyn faced a lot of flak from the Indian fans over his remarks. The Proteas pacer even clarified his statement and said that he never intended to insult the lucrative Indian league. Although Dale Steyn apologized for his comments, his sensational interview indicated that he’s not keen to play in IPL anymore.
However, that’s not the case. In a recent interaction, Steyn said that he still has one more IPL left in him. He even threw light on his decision to skip 2021 season

“I think when you’re not playing for your country you quickly get forgotten. It was a concern of mine when I was still playing for South Africa. I had a chat with my agent. He was like, ‘Maybe you should retire.’ I’m like, ‘I’m worried that if I retire I might not get taken seriously as a cricketer to go to the IPL anymore,” Steyn was quoted

Dale Steyn pulled the curtains down on his illustrious cricket career on August 31, almost 17 years after making his international debut in December 2004.
Dale Steyn picked up a whopping 699 wickets in international cricket after featuring in 265 matches across formats. Undoubtedly, he was the best South Africa had in the Test format but the man was brilliant in the limited-overs too. His retirement comes as a surprise as the 38-year-old had earlier this year specifically stated that he was only pulling out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and not retiring from the game.
Here's how his international journey panned out. #DaleSteyn #Cricket #DaleSteynBowling

England all-rounder Moeen Ali announced his retirement from Tests on September 27 (Monday). He played 64 Tests for his country scoring 2914 runs and also picked 195 wickets. These are definitely decent numbers for an all-rounder but Moeen reckons he could’ve become as good as Ben Stokes had he got consistent opportunities at the top of the order in the longest format.
Moeen recalled the series against New Zealand in 2015 when he and Stokes both had done well. The southpaw used to bat at number six then while Stokes used to come at eight. However, the then Alastair Cook then spoke to him about promoting Stokes and Ali had to bat at number eight. Remembering the incident, Moeen Ali said that it was disappointing for him at that time.
Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn wants KL Rahul to take captaincy duties of the Royal Challengers Bangalore after their incumbent skipper Virat Kohli steps down next year. Kohli recently announced his decision to leave RCB captaincy after the conclusion of the 2021 edition of the league, a decision he took only three days after announcing that he would also step down as India’s T20I skipper after the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Dale Steyn, who has been with RCB in the IPL from 2008-10 before another stint in 2019-20, told ESPNcricinfo that RCB must get back their old player KL Rahul, who currently leads Punjab Kings, into the mix in next year’s mega-auction. Notably, Rahul plied his trade for RCB twice himself – in 2013, followed by 2016-18.
The T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to begin on October 17 with qualifiers taking place in Oman and the Super 12 stage taking place in the UAE. In the same light of events, some more information is coming around team India’s stay and it has been found out that Virat Kohli and his men will stay in Th8 Palm in Dubai.
Currently, the same hotel is being used by the Chennai Super Kings team member and later, India will reside at the same place. It has been reporte

Veteran South Africa pacer Dale Steyn escaped from answering a possibly controversial question on Twitter on Friday. The pacer was asked by a fan whether he found it rewarding while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore or Quetta Gladiators. The 37-year-old gave a hilarious reply to the fan and tried not to create another controversy.
A few days back, in an exclusive interview with a Pakistani journalist, Steyn revealed the main reason why he opted out of the Indian Premier League 2021. In the interview, the right-arm quick revealed that while playing in the Pakistan Super League and Lankan Premier League, he realised that it was more rewarding than the IPL.
After his comments caught the headlines, Steyn formally apologized on Twitter saying that he didn’t mean to insult or compare any two leagues. His comments had seen him facing a lot of backlash from the Indian fans. Hence, it was obvious that the fast-bowler was not going to let another incident like this happen.

Jofra Archer, who recently returned to action in the County Championship 2021, has expressed his thoughts about the situation in India. The 26-year-old pacer was one of the star overseas players ahead of the IPL 2021, where he was going to play for Rajasthan Royals. Unfortunately, an injury ruled him out of the tournament completely.
Initially, it was reported that Archer will return to the tournament in the middle of the season, however, it was later revealed that he has been entirely ruled out of the 2021 edition. However, later the tournament got postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. In the last few weeks, India has recorded more than 3 lakh cases every day.
“It’s terrible in India at the moment and to be honest if I did go to India, I probably would have been home early, anyway, but I think that’s just how it’s gone. I feel hopeful when if it does reschedule for this year, hopefully, I’ll be able to go again but it was a hard decision to not go to India,” Archer said in an interaction, uploaded by the Sussex club on their official Youtube channel.
During the same interaction, the pacer also expressed his desire to go to the IPL 2021, whenever it resumes. Rajasthan Royals and England all-rounder Ben Stokes was also ruled out of the IPL 2021. Archer also revealed that he doesn’t know if Stokes will be available when England starts their Test series against New Zealand.

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on March 26. Cricketers from various countries are set to miss the start of the tournament due to international commitments. There were clouds over availability of South Africa players as well with their home series against Bangladesh scheduled during the IPL. However, it is understood now that the Proteas red-ball players will prefer IPL over Test matches now.
South Africa’s Test skipper Dean Elgar had called it ‘litmust test of loyalty’ for his players and had also said that he will try to persuade the cricketers to stay back for the Test series. But it has been reported that the IPL-bound players have unanimously taken the decision to travel to India to play in the T20 extravaganza during the Test series.
Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne fought a lone battle in the second Test against India in Bengaluru on Monday (March 14). He slammed a scintillating century on a tough pitch during the Pink-ball Test showing excellent technique against spin bowling of high class. No wonder the cricketing fraternity lauded him for his batting and congratulated the southpaw for his knock.
Congratulatory messages flooded in for Karunaratne on social media as well. However, he unknowingly goofed up while responding to one of the tweets. India’s one of top commentators Harsha Bhogle had lauded him for scoring a fourth innings century in August 2019. And the Sri Lanka captain hilariously responded to that three-year-old tweet thanking Harsha.
Rohit Sharma has certainly made a jaw-dropping start to his captaincy tenure in international cricket. Ever since taking over the full-time role, the veteran opener has led India in 14 matches across formats and took the side to win every single time. The recently-concluded two-match Test series against Sri Lanka marked Rohit’s first leadership assignment in the longest format and the 34-year-old embraced the challenge.

It has been a tough few months for India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he worked hard to rediscover his rhythm with the ball in hand. He was one of the best pacers in the Indian side not too long ago but injuries have hampered his career in the last couple of years. While Kumar could only manage a couple of scalps in the recent T20I series against West Indies, he bowled a match-winning penultimate over in the second game conceding just four runs and accounting for the dangerous Nicholas Pooran to win India the match.
Meanwhile, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has come forward and said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a strong contender to be in the Indian squad for this year’s ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Giving further clarification on the same, the he said that the 32-year-old has toiled hard to overcome his bad patch.
Spin legend Shane Warne has thrown his hat to become England’s next head coach. One of the finest spinners, if not the finest, to have ever stepped onto the cricket field, Warne has been in the coaching arena since a while and has mentored many prominent teams like Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and London Spirit in The Hundred.
The 52-year-old is now keen to join forces with the Three Lions, who have been struggling in Test cricket lately. Notably, England parted ways with their former head coach Chris Silverwood following the side’s humiliating 0-4 annihilation in Ashes. For the time being, former all-rounder Paul Collingwood has taken over as the interim head coach. However, ECB is yet to finalize a candidate for the full-time role.
Wriddhiman Saha has been through a lot in the week gone by. After being dropped from the Indian Test side for the upcoming homes Test series against Sri Lanka starting March four, he was already not having a fine time. However, the biggest incident of them all was not willing to get interviewed by a renowned journalist for which the veteran wicketkeeper-batter was threatened.<
