Covid second wave: Over 3.57 lakh new cases, 3.2 lakh discharges and 3,449 deaths in last 24 hours

India reported 2,59,170 new COVID-19 infections and 1,761 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. This has taken the total number of positive cases in the country to 1,53,21,089. There are currently 20,31,977 active cases in the country as of Tuesday. As many as 1,54,761 people recovered from the virus. With this, the total number of recoveries reached 1,31,08,582 in India. The death toll has reached 1,80,530 with additional 1,761 fatalities.

With 4,03,738 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, India continued to report more than four lakh daily coronavirus infections for the fourth day on the trot. The country saw 3,86,444 fresh recoveries on Saturday, pushing the total number of discharges to 1,83,17,404. At present, India has 37,36,648 active coronavirus cases. 4,092 deaths related deaths were also registered in the last 24 hours, taking the total COVID-related death toll to 2,42,362.

COVID second wave: India logs over 4 lakh cases for fourth day in a row

With 3,43,144 people testing positive for coronavirus in a day, India's COVID-19 tally of cases climbed to 2,40,46,809, while the death toll rose to 2,62,317 with 4,000 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The active cases have reduced to 37,04,893 comprising 15.41 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 83.50 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

India has recorded 4,14,188 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours -- the highest so far, along with 3,915 fatalities, taking the total number of cases in the country to 2,14,91,598, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday. It is the third time after May 1 that India has crossed the four lakh mark of active cases in last 24 hours. On Thursday, India recorded 4,12,262 cases.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday, addressing the media in Jhansi said that recovery rate in UP has climbed to 93% and COVID positivity rate has fallen to 2%. CM Yogi said, 'no. of cases in second Covid wave clocked its peak at 38,000 on April 24. Today, cases have come down to 4000. There was a time when active cases were 3.1 lakh on April 30, now fallen to 84,000.' He further said that UP recovery rate has climbed to 93% and positivity rate fallen down to 2%. He also thanked Central govt for the help during oxygen crisis.
