On Monday Google will place an interactive comic strip on all homepages of the search engine because of the 107th anniversary of Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland. Winsor McCay was an American cartoonist and animator best known for this comic strip starring Little Nemo. Like you can see in the video below you can click-through the story. The logo only works in modern browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 9 and 10 but not in Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8..

Google is celebrating 107th anniversary of American cartoonist and animator Winsor Zenic McCay’s “Little Nemo in Slumberland” with an interactive doodle across the world.
Visitors to Google’s homepage were treated to a scrolling animated narration of the story dubbed “Little Nemo in Google-land” – though not all visitors may be able to experience it this time.
The interactive comic strip provides a small tab at the lower right area for visitors to click to see the continuation of the story.
Clicking on the tab at the end of the story will take the visitor to a Search Results page for Winsor Zenic McCay.
McCay, born September 26, 1869 and died July 26, 1934, was best known for the comic strip “Little Nemo” that started in 1905, and the animated cartoon “Gertie the Dinosaur” in 1914.
His comic strip work is credited for influencing generations of artists, including William Joyce, André LeBlanc, Moebius, Maurice Sendak, Chris Ware and Bill Watterson.
However, not all visitors will get to experience the Doodle: StateofSearch.com said only modern browsers will show it.
“The logo only works in modern browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 9 and 10 but not in Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8,” it said.

In the different panels of the Winsor McCay Little Nemo Google doodle the letters of the Google logo - G-O-O-G-L-E - appear in a chronological order.
Winsor McCay was not only a newspaper cartoonist, but also a pioneer of animated films. He started off as a poster and hoardings artist and later moved to newspaper cartooning.

Winsor Zenic McCay, born on September 26, 1869 in Spring Lake, Michigan (U.S), was an animator and cartoonist who worked under the pen name Silas for legal reasons.
He realized his zeal towards art during his youth while he was in Ypsilanti. So, to pursue his passion, he underwent his only formal art training from Eastern Michigan University formerly known as John Goodison of Michigan State Normal College.
Winson McCay was highly admired for his bold use of colour. And with his creativity he amazed his readers and surpassed his contemporaries, and also set an example of inspiration for many.
Little Nemo in Slumberland was his first comic strip series that revolves around about the little character Nemo and his dreams. The intriguing character has to reach 'Slumberland', the realm of King Morpheus, as the latter wanted Nemo with his daughter.
His first major comic strip was 'A Tale of the Jungle Imps' by Felix Fiddle based on creatures of jungle that tells about their adaptation to a hostile world.

Google’s Doodle today celebrates the 107th anniversary of iconic cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland. And this one is not an ordinary doodle as it builds an entire story, which the users can see as they continue to click down.
The comic strip by McCay made its first appearance in 15 October, 1905 in the New York Herald with the title Little Nemo in Slumberland and later in New York American under the tittle In the Land of Wonderful Dreams. To know more about Little Nemo click here.
The doodle, an interactive animation, shows the story of Little Nemo in Slumberland, through various panels. Of course the Google imprint is ever present in each story panel, you can see the Google, G, e’s and l all playing their own parts in the story.
This Google Doodle is perhaps the coolest one to come out this year. The animations and colours are totally dreamlike and only enhance the beauty of the original McCay work.
Other famous works by Winsor McCay include Dream of the Rarebit Fiend (written under the pen name Silas and the animated cartoon, Gertie the Dinosaur.

Saul Bass (May 8, 1920 -- April 25, 1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters, and corporate logos.
During his 40-year career Bass worked for some of Hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Among his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of a skyscraper in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.
