That was it. The Eagles had signed receivers Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin, their two biggest unknowns on offense heading into the offseason, and they now could focus on the other side of the ball up through May.
Uh, yeah, Chip Kelly had (at least) one more trick up his sleeve on his burgeoning offense.
On Thursday, the New Orleans Saints traded running back Darren Sproles to the Eagles, according to various media reports. The Saints had considered cutting Sproles but wisely held onto him once it was clear there was a vibrant trade market for his services.
The Eagles traded a fifth-round pick to the Saints, one they had received for Isaac Sopoaga last season.

One of the teams pursuing Sproles and that appeared to be in on him until the final moments was the Redskins, who lost out to a division rival.
On the surface, you might think, 'Why Philly?' But Sproles adds an obvious mismatch piece to an offense full of them. LeSean McCoy might be a younger, quicker version of Sproles, but McCoy also needs a breather here and here. He played an extremely high total of 813 snaps last season, more than 50 per game, and totaled career-highs for carries (314) and touches (366) en route to 2,146 total yards fro.

The Eagles have acquired Darren Sproles from the Saints in a trade, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports and the Eagles later confirmed.
The diminutive but explosive running back was originally expected to be released by the Saints, but they had a change of heart when they saw the interest in Sproles and decided to trade him.
Sproles is a superb fit with the Eagles, a pass-catching running back who can alter the return game in a wide-open offense like the one Chip Kelly runs.
Think about all the screens or fake screens you see the Eagles use throughout their offense. Those can run through Sproles, who's as destructive in the screen game as they come. Sproles will also be active in the passing game and return game, just like he was in New Orleans.
La Canfora also reports the Redskins were attempting to acquire Sproles (who would've given them a Giovani Bernard-like running back for Jay Gruden's offense). It stings doubly for Washington that he's headed to an NFC East rival.
With LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and now Sproles added to the mix, there's no reason to think the Eagles offense will slow down in 2014.
Hopefully this will make Sproles and his wife happy, and hopefully he was following JLC this morning.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the New Orleans Saints have traded the versatile running back to Philadelphia, according to a source familiar with the deal. The Eagles later confirmed the trade.
The Saints received the Eagles' fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, per Rapoport. The fifth-rounder in question is the pick Philadelphia received when they traded Isaac Sopoaga last year to the Patriots.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly just got another interesting chess piece for his fascinating offensive concepts.
On Thursday morning, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New Orleans Saints traded running back Darren Sproles to the Eagles for a fifth-round draft pick. The move takes Sproles’ $3.4 million base salary and $100,000 workout bonus off the books as the Saints try all sorts of things to free up salary cap space, but it leaves Drew Brees without an intriguing and versatile target.
It’s a perfect fit for Kelly’s high-paced and atypical offense, because Sproles is anything but your garden-variety running back. Selected in the fourth round of the 2005 draft by the San Diego Chargers out of Kansas State, Sproles really came into focus when he signed a four-year, $14 million contract with New Orleans in July 2011 and became Reggie Bush’s replacement as Sean Payton’s satellite back.
“Darren Sproles is an unbelievable offensive weapon,†Kelly said in a statement. “He can do it all, run, catch, plus he’s a proven winner. And on top of that, he can bring all of those dynamic skills to the return game as well. There is no question we were all excited once we found out we were going to be able to trade for him.â€
Over the last three seasons, Sproles has ranked first in targets, receptions (232), receiving yards (1,981) and receiving touchdowns (16) among NFL running backs. In 20

Sproles told ESPN on Wednesday morning he wished the Saints would release him instead.
Michel Sproles said she was upset with the way the team has handled the situation, writing that the team initially told Sproles he would be released, but later decided to trade him.
