AB de Villiers' (57) brilliant knock helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by four wickets in the Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Friday.

Chasing 156, opener Brendon McCullum (0) departed in the first over and skipper Virat Kohli (21) also wasted the start and went back in the fifth over.

De Villiers and opener Quinton de Kock (45) then forged a crucial 54-run partnership for the third wicket before in-form de Kock was sent packing by Ravichandran Ashwin in the 12th over.

Mandeep Singh (22) then came in the middle and supported de Villiers by playing some beautifully crafted shots around the ground.

But just when Bangalore side was at the brink of the win, the South African player was dismissed by Andrew Tye in the 19th over. His 40-ball innings was laced with two boundaries and four sixes. Just after that, Mandeep also got run out in the same over.

But at that time, it was just a formality and lower-order batsmen Chris Woakes (1 not out) and Washington Sunder (9 not out) completed it with ease.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab were bowled out for 155.

Lokesh Rahul (47) and Ashwin (33) were the top scorers for Punjab.

For Bangalore, pacer Umesh Yadav scalped three wickets while Chris Woakes, Kulwant Khejroliya and Sundar took two wickets each.

Put in to bat, Punjab started off on a poor note, losing opener Mayank Agarwal (15), new batsmen Aaron Finch (0) and Yuvraj Singh (4) the fourth over. With the scoreboard reading 32, Mayank and Finch were dismissed in consecutive balls, while Yuvraj was bowled on the last ball by Umesh Yadav.

Unperturbed by the sudden fall of wickets, opener Lokesh Rahul (47) played sensibly and also hammered the bowlers all around the park before getting out in the 12th over to spinner Sundar. In his 30-ball knock, he slammed two boundaries and four sixes.

Kings XI Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings by four runs here on Sunday to end southern outfit's winning run in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Put in to bat, Punjab wasted their solid start but managed to post a challenging total of 197/7. In reply, Chennai batters failed.

Apart from Ambati Rayudu (49) and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (79 not out), no other batsmen seemed comfortable in-front of Punjab's bowlers and went cheaply to lose the game.

Big names like Shane Watson (11), Murali Vijay (12), Sam Billings (9) and Ravindra Jadeja (19) failed to score handsomely in a big run chase. Towards the end, Dhoni tried to pull off the things single-handedly but failed and his 44-ball unbeaten innings went in vain.

For Punjab, Andrew Tye scalped two wickets.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab failed to make the most of the flying start given by openers Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul and settled for 197/7.

Rahul (37 runs in 22 balls) and Gayle (63 runs in 33 balls) gave the hosts a rousing start, slamming 96 runs in eight overs. But after their wickets, no other batsman took advantage of it and failed to score runs, thanks to the Chennai bowlers' disciplined bowling.

Rahul fell in the eighth over when the scoreboard was reading 96. After adding a few more runs, Gayle also departed, courtesy pacer Shane Watson, in the 12th over. The West Indian batsman slammed seven boundaries and four sixes.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 19 runs here on Sunday to register their second win in three matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 cricket tournament.

Rajasthan put up a huge score of 217 for 4 wickets, riding on Sanju Samson's blistering 92 not out off 45 deliveries. RCB managed to score 198/6 as the southern outfit suffered its second loss in three games.

Samson shared crucial partnerships with Ben Stokes (27 off 21), Jos Buttler (23 off 14) and Rahul Tripaathi (14 not out off five), as Rajasthan capitalised on a strong start provided by captain Ajinkya Rahane (36 off 20).

Right-hander Rahane hit six fours and a six to provide the early fireworks for the visitors as they raced to 49 off 5.4 overs till the dismissal of the Indian international. Rahane hit a slower delivery from English medium pacer Chris Woakes into the hands of Umesh Yadav at mid-on.

In the following over, the other opening batsman D'Arcy Short (11 off 17) under-edged a delivery from leg-spinner Yuzvender Chahal and was caught by wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock.

These two quick wickets boosted RCB's confidence -- only to be destroyed by Samson and Stokes later. Both milked runs, despite good bowling from Chahal and Washington Sundar.

Samson moved to score 50 off 34 balls as he shared an important partnership of 49 runs with Stokes, who was bowled by Chahal in the second delivery of the 13th over, with Rajasthan at 102/3.

Kolkata Knight Riders rode on Nitish Rana and Andre Russell's heroics to snap a two-game losing streak and register a 71-run victory over Delhi Daredevils in a lopsided Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Eden Gardens here on Monday.

Put in by their celebrated former captain Gautam Gambhir, KKR piled up 200/9 as in-form Rana smashed a 35-ball 59 with Russell clobbering a 12-ball 44, that included six sixes off Mohammed Shami.

In reply, Glenn Maxwell's 22-ball 47 and Rishabh Pant's 26-ball 43 went in vain, as Delhi were bundled out for 129 with mystery spinner Sunil Narine (3/18) and chinaman Kuldeep Yadav (3/32) plotting most of the damage.

Delhi were reduced to 24/3 inside the first three overs with opener Jason Roy (1), Shreyas Iyer (4) and skipper Gambhir (8) back in the hut.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla (1/16) got Roy's back in the last ball of the innings' first over with a slider down the leg side which the England batsman missed and went down the wicket for skipper Dinesh Karthik to effect a stumping.

In the next over, Rana caught Iyer at first slip off Russell's bowling while the big wicket of Gambhir -- who is KKR's most successful captain winning two IPLs with them -- fell to U-19 World Cup winner Shivam Mavi (1/14).

Pant and Maxwell then came together for a 62-run stand for the fourth wicket before the former holed out to Chawla at deep midwicket off Yadav.
