Vice-Foreign Minister for External Affairs of Republic of Peru H.E. Mr. Jose Beraun Aranibar is visiting India on 12-13 July 2012. Secretary (West) will hold the 4th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOCs) with the visiting dignitary on July 13, 2012. Both sides will be signing two MOUs (i) for Cooperation in Geology and Mineral Resources and (ii) for setting up of a Centre of Excellence of Information Technology (CEIT).

2. Bilateral relations between India and Peru are warm and friendly. In a significant development bilateral trade has touched a record of $835 million in 2011 and is likely to cross $ 1 billion in 2012. There are also significant Indian investments in Peru particularly in Mining, Hydrocarbons, Pharma and IT.

3. India and Peru have always maintained close contacts in the UN and other multilateral Fora. Peru supports India's claim for permanent membership of an expanded UNSC.
