The last few weeks haven’t been pleasant for many Australian cricketers. Following the abrupt suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Aussie participants in the tournament had to fly to the Maldives due to the travel ban imposed by the Australian government. They eventually landed in Australia on May 17 and reunited with their families only after serving the mandatory quarantine.
Dashing opener David Warner also participated in IPL 2021, and his experience was ‘terrifying.’ Warner, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad, reunited with his wife and children on Monday (May 31) after being released from two weeks of hotel quarantine in Sydney. Speaking of his time in India, the southpaw recalled the tragic scenes he witnessed in the COVID-ravaged nation during IPL 2021.

“I think it really hit home when everyone saw that piece on the TV about what was happening in India with the oxygen. You know, people on the streets lining up to cremate their family members and we did see that a couple of times going to and from the grounds. Open fields and stuff. You know, it was terrifying. And it was just really upsetting from a humanitarian point of view,” Warner told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa.
Talking about IPL suspension, the veteran batsman opined that the right decision was made. However, he also mentioned that the overseas players had to get out of India after the situation became more challenging.
“It was challenging. We had to get out of there ASAP. We were there (in the Maldives) with other people, and they were there for the same reasons — getting out of India, trying to get to their countries as well because pretty much everyone was locked out of their country who had been into India,” he asserted.

Even when I have bowled well [at other times], I haven’t ended up with a five-for,” said Ashwin.
Detailing further on the topic, Ashwin made a point that to enjoy a teammate’s success, one needs to feel part of the team but that was not the case with him. The senior spinner felt being thrown under the bus but still joined the celebration as India had won the massive series Down Under.
“If I have to come and partake in his (Kuldeep’s) happiness, and the success of the team, I must feel like I belong there. If I feel like I am being thrown under the bus, how am I supposed to get up and come for a party to enjoy the team’s or team-mate’s success? I went back to my room and then I spoke to my wife. In what can be called a sensational revelation, former Australian head coach Justin Langer got engaged in a heated argument with interim Cricket Australia chairman Richard Freudenstein following his resignation earlier this year. The southpaw was offered a short-term extension in February which he refused. They also work all around the world in cricket. So yeah, I’m glad my mates are looking after me. Imagine if you had have. Ironically, the last six months of my coaching career were the most enjoyable period of 12 years of coaching,” he added.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao flagged off 466 new 108 ambulances (emergency vehicles), and 228 Amma Vodi (transport facility for pregnant women) at Peoples Plaza on Tuesday, August 1.
Of these, 34 are Hearse Vehicles which are deployed to provide specialized services of transporting bodies of the deceased back to their native place, free of cost.
Before the launch, the 108 emergency fleet consisted of 426 vehicles out of which 175 vehicles are now being replaced by new ones and 29 new ambulances are being added to new routes.
lso, they were 300 non-emergency vehicles in the Amma Vodi fleet earlier, out of which 228 are now being replaced.
