ગુજરાતમાં દારૂબંધીના કાયદાનો ચુસ્સતપણે અમલ કરવામાં આવે છે. ત્યારે શાસક પક્ષ અને પોલીસને શરમાવે તેવા દ્રશ્યો કોઝવે પાસેના તાપી કિનારે જોવા મળ્યા છે. એક બાજુ શહેર ભાજપ પ્રમુખ નીતિન ભજિયાવાળા લોકોને તાપી શુદ્ધિકરણ કરવા માટે આમંત્રણ આપી રહ્યા છે ત્યારે બીજી તરફ તાપીમાંથી જળકુંભીના નિકાલ કરતા સમયે ખુલ્લે આમ તાપીના કિનારે ચાલતી દેશી દારૂ બનાવની ભઠ્ઠીઓ મળી આવી છે. ત્યારે આ ઘટનાથી સ્થાનિક પોલીસ અને રાજનીતિ સાથે સંકળાયેલા લોકોને શરમાતી ઘટના જ કહેવાય. આ ઘટના પરથી હવે જોવાનું એ રહે છે જાહેરમાં ચાલતા દેશી તથા ઇંગલિશ દારૂના અડ્ડાઓ પર પોલીસ કે રાજકીય પક્ષ મહેરબાન થશે કે પછી કોઈ કાયદેસરના કડક પગલાં લેવામાં આવશે.

રામ નવમીના દિવસે સુરતીઓ મોટી સંખ્યામાં એકત્રિત થઈને તાપી નદીમાંથી જળકુંભીનો નિકાલ કરશે. સુરત શહેર ભાજપ પ્રમુખ નીતિન ભજીયાવાળા દ્વારા શુદ્ધિકરણ અભિયાનની પહેલ કરવામાં આવી છે. 10 દિવસ દરમિયાન શહેરના લોકો, સુરત મહાનગર પાલિકા તેમજ સામાજિક સંસ્થાઓ સાથે મળીને તાપી નદીનું અસ્તિત્વ ટકાવી રાખવા જળકુંભીનો તાપીમાંથી નિકાલ કરવા માટે સફાઈ અભિયાનમાં જોડાશે.
તાપી શુદ્ધિકરણના આ અભિયાનને વેગ આપવા નીતિન ભજિયાવાળા દ્વારા શહેરમાં જાહેર જગ્યાઓ પર લોકોને તાપી શુદ્ધિકરણ અભિયાનમાં જોડાવા માટેના બેનરો પણ લગાવામાં આવ્યા છે. તાપીના અસ્તિત્વને ટકાવી રાખવા રામનવમીના દિવસે સુરતીઓ મોટી સંખ્યામાં કોઝ-વે ખાતે ઉપસ્થિત રહી તાપી શુદ્ધીકરણ અભિયાનની શરૂઆત કરશે.
