പ്രായത്തെ വെറും അക്കങ്ങളാക്കി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്കിലെ ഫില്ലിസ് സ്യൂസ് എന്ന മുത്തശ്ശി.
അറുപത് കടന്നാല്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കണമെന്ന പല്ലവിയ്ക്ക് തന്റെ സാഹസികതകളിലൂടെ മറുപടി നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഈ മുത്തശ്ശി. 1923-ല്‍ ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്കിലാണ് ഫില്ലിസ് സ്യൂസ് ജനിച്ചത്. ചെറുപ്പത്തില്‍ തന്നെ ബാലെയും സ്പാനിഷ് നൃത്തവും പഠിച്ച ഫില്ലിസ് സ്‌റ്റേജ് പ്രോഗ്രാമുകളിലും ടെലിവിഷന്‍ പരിപാടികളിലും എല്ലാം നിറസാന്നിധ്യമായിരുന്നു. അന്‍പത് കഴിഞ്ഞതോടെ സ്‌റ്റേജ് പരിപാടികളില്‍ നിന്നും ഇടവേളയെടുത്ത് സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ഫാഷന്‍ ബിസിനസ് ആരംഭിച്ചു.ബിസിനസ് നന്നായി മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുമ്ബോഴും ഇനി എന്തുചെയ്യാം എന്നായിരുന്നു ഫില്ലിസിന്റെ ചിന്ത.
എഴുപതാം വയസ്സില്‍ ഫ്രെഞ്ചും ഇറ്റാലിയനും പഠിച്ചെടുത്തു.
അമ്മ മരണപ്പെട്ടതോടെ അമ്മയുടെ പിയാനോ ഫില്ലിസിന് സ്വന്തമായി. അങ്ങനെ ഫില്ലിസ് പിയാനോയില്‍ പരിശീലനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ടാംഗോ ഇന്‍ഡോമ്‌നിയ, സീന്‍സ് ഓഫ് പാഷന്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ട് സംഗീത ആല്‍ബങ്ങളും ഫില്ലിസ് ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തി. എഴുപത്തി ഒന്‍പതാം വയസ്സില്‍ ഫിലിസ് ക്യാന്‍സറിനെയും തന്റെ ജീവിതത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ഓടിച്ചു. എണ്‍പത്തിമൂന്നാം വയസ്സില്‍ ആണ് ട്രിപ്പീസ് പരിശീലിക്കണം എന്ന ആഗ്രഹം ഫില്ലിസിന്റെ മനസ്സിലുദിച്ചത്. 85 വയസ്സായപ്പോഴേക്കും ആ ആഗ്രഹവും സാധിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് 85-ാം വയസ്സില്‍ യോഗ പരിശീലിക്കാന്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചു. പിന്നീടിങ്ങോട്ട് യോഗ മുടക്കിയിട്ടില്ല.
തൊണ്ണൂറാം വയസ്സില്‍ ആരും മടിക്കുന്ന സാഹസികമായ സ്‌കൈഡൈവിങ്ങിന് ഇറങ്ങി പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
സ്‌കൈഡൈവിംഗ് ഏറെ ആസ്വദിച്ച്‌ ഫിലിസ് മുത്തശ്ശി രണ്ടാംതവണയും ചെയ്തു. തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിരണ്ടാം പിറന്നാളില്‍ ഫില്ലിസ് ഏവരെയും ഞെട്ടിച്ചത് ചടുലമായ ടാംഗോ നൃത്തച്ചുവടുകള്‍ കൊണ്ടാണ്. ഹൈഹീല്‍ഡ് ചെരുപ്പണിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു ചുവടുപോലും പിഴയ്ക്കാതെ ഫില്ലീസ് ഡാന്‍സ് ഫ്‌ലോറില്‍ ഒഴുകി നടന്നു. വാതരോഗവും അസ്ഥി ക്ഷതവുമെല്ലാം ഫില്ലിസിനെയും തേടിയെത്തിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ അതൊന്നും തന്റെ വഴിയില്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് തടസ്സങ്ങളേ ആയിരുന്നില്ല.
ജീവിതം ഒന്നേയുള്ളൂ അതു ജീവിച്ചു തന്നെ തീര്‍ക്കണം എന്നാണ് ഈ മുത്തശ്ശി പറയുന്നത്.
