കർണാടകാ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ മൈസൂരിൽ നിന്നും 35 കിലോ മീറ്റർ അകലെ സോമനാഥപുര എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതനമായ ഒരു വിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചെന്ന കേശവ ക്ഷേത്രം.
ഹൊയ്സാല രാജാവായിരുന്ന നരസിംഹൻ മൂന്നാമന്റെ സേനാ നായകനായിരുന്ന സോമനാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പണി കഴിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഹൊയ്സാല വാസ്തു വിദ്യയുടെ ഉത്തമ ദൃഷ്ടാന്തമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം . ആർക്കിയോളജിക്കൽ സർവേ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ ഏറ്റെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇന്ന് പൂർണമായും സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട നിലയിലാണ്.മിക്ക ഹൊയ്സാല ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും നിർമിച്ച രുവാരി മലിതമ്മാർ എന്ന ശില്പിയാണ് ചെന്ന കേശവ ക്ഷേത്രവും നിർമിച്ചത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു മൂന്നു ശ്രീ കോവിലുകളുണ്ട്. ഇത് ത്രികൂടം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. നടുവിൽ കേശവനും ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി ജനാർദ്ദന സ്വാമിയും വേണു ഗോപാലനും കുടി കൊള്ളുന്നു. ശ്രീകോവിലുകൾക്ക് മുകളിലായി ചാരുതയാർന്ന ഗോപുരങ്ങൾ കാണാനാകും. ഇതിന്റെ ഉൾഭാഗം ഏറെ സുന്ദരമാണ്. ഇതൊരു പൂർണ വൈഷ്ണവ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. പരമ ശിവനുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട യാതൊന്നും ഇവിടെ നിന്നും കണ്ടെടുത്തിട്ടില്ല. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തെക്കും വടക്കുമുള്ള ഉൾ ഭിത്തികളിൽ യഥാക്രമം രാമായണ മഹാഭാരത കഥാ സന്ദർഭങ്ങൾ പൂർണമായി കൊത്തി വച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ശില്പികളുടെ കരവിരുതു സ്പർശിക്കാത്ത ഒരു ഭാഗവുമില്ല എന്ന് തന്നെ പറയാം.
