Van der Rohe sought to establish a completely new architecture style to represent modern times. Today it's his 126th Birthday, and Google celebrates this day with a special Doodle.
It shows a picture of one of the mature buildings he made, the 'Crown Hall', located at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
He used modern materials just like industrial steel and also plate glass. His style is associated with the aphorisms 'less ist more' and 'God is in the details'. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe died on August 17th, 1969 in Chicago.
