उत्तरी कश्मीर के गांदेरबल में खीर भवानी के मेले की शुरुआत कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच हुई। मेले में देश-विदेश से आए कश्मीर पंडितों , मुस्लिम और सिखों ने भाग लिया। इस दौरान भक्तों ने नंगे पांव चलते हुए देवी को गुलाब के फूल चढ़ाए और पूजा-अर्चना की, जबकि कई लोगों ने मंदिर के करीब नदी में डुबकी लगाई. तुलमुल गांव में स्थित माता राग्नी का खीर भवानी मंदिर कश्मीरी पंडितों के लिए आस्था का सबसे बड़ा प्रतीक है। इस मंदिर में पानी का एक स्रोत है जिसे चमत्कारिक माना जाता है. खीर का मतलब दूध और भवानी का मतलब भविष्यवाणी है. यही कारण है कि झरने की मंदिर में बहुत महत्ता है.कश्मीर में आतंकी साया होने के बाद कश्मीरी पंडित अपनी संस्कृति और रीति रिवजा से जुड़ने के लिए यहाँ आएं हैं। इस दौरान कश्मीरी पंडितों ने घर वापसी की उम्मीद की वहीं मुस्लिम और सिख भाइयों ने उन्हें घाटी वापस आने की अपील की।
