Youngest Player in Tournament Makes Biggest Splash
On a day that began with more fussing about the plight of American men at the United States Open, 15-year-old Catherine Bellis gave the American fans a shot of adrenaline with an upset victory that electrified her little corner of the U.S.T.A. Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Tuesday.

Bellis, playing in the relatively obscure confines of Court 6, upended the No. 12 seed, Dominika Cibulkova, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, becoming the youngest girl to win a match at the U.S. Open since 1996. She will next play Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan.
