In the light of an exponential surge in Covid-19 cases, the central government on Tuesday issued a 'Test-Track-Treat' (TTT) protocol in all parts of the country to ensure observance of pandemic-appropriate behaviour by everyone and to scale up the vaccination drive by covering all the target groups. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the SOP order with guidelines for effective control of the deadly pandemic, which will be effective from April 1 and remain in force till April 30.

India hit a new coronavirus infection record with 1,68,912 new cases, the highest single-day rise so far, taking the total tally of cases to 1,35,27,717. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has fallen below 90 per cent. The active cases have surpassed the 12-lakh mark, while the death toll increased to 1,70,179 with 904 daily new fatalities, the highest since October 18, the data updated at 8 am showed.

India has recorded 4,14,188 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours -- the highest so far, along with 3,915 fatalities, taking the total number of cases in the country to 2,14,91,598, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday. It is the third time after May 1 that India has crossed the four lakh mark of active cases in last 24 hours. On Thursday, India recorded 4,12,262 cases.

India reported 62,714 new COVID-19 cases and 312 deaths in the last 24 hours on Sunday taking the total cases to 1,19,71,624. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, total coronavirus cases jumped to 1,19,71,624 with 1,13,23762 recoveries. There are 4,86,310 active cases while the overall death toll stands at 1,61,552 with 6,02,69,782 people vaccinated against COVID-19.
