2019ല്‍ ലോക്സഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പും നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളും ഒരുമിച്ച് നടത്തിയാൽ വോട്ടിങ് മെഷീനുകള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമായി 4555 കോടി രൂപ വേണ്ടി വരും
2019ല്‍ ലോക്സഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പും നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളും ഒരുമിച്ച് നടത്തുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് വോട്ടിങ് മെഷീനുകള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമായി 4555 കോടി രൂപ വേണ്ടിവരുമെന്ന് നിയമ കമ്മീഷന്‍.
കണ്‍ട്രോള്‍ യൂണിറ്റും ബാലറ്റ് യൂണിറ്റും വിവിപാറ്റും ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുന്ന വോട്ടിങ് മെഷീന്‍റെ ചെലവ് 33200 രൂപയാണ്. 12.9 ലക്ഷം ബാലറ്റ് യൂണിറ്റുകളും 9.4 ലക്ഷം കണ്‍ട്രോള്‍ യൂണിറ്റുകളും 12.3 ലക്ഷം വിവിപാറ്റുകളുമാണ് പുതുതായി വാങ്ങേണ്ടിവരിക. ഇതിനെല്ലാം കൂടി 4555 കോടി രൂപ ആവശ്യമായി വരുമെന്നും ഇലക്ഷന്‍ കമ്മീഷന്‍ നല്‍കിയ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടിന്‍റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ നിയമ കമ്മീഷന്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
15 വര്‍ഷമാണ് ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് വോട്ടിങ് മെഷീന്‍റെ ശരാശരി ആയുസ്സ്. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച് 2024ല്‍ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഒരുമിച്ച് നടത്താന്‍ വോട്ടിങ് മെഷീനുകള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമായി 1751.17 കോടി രൂപ വേണ്ടിവരും. 2029ല്‍ 2017.93 കോടി രൂപയും 2034ല്‍ 13981.58 കോടി രൂപയും ചെലവ് വരും.
