JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Thousands of people, mostly Muslims, attended the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit woman in Monghama village of Pulwama district.

Meenawati wife of Shanbo Nath died after remaining paralysed for one-and-a-half year at her home in Muslim dominated area.

The Muslims helped the family to perform the last rites of Meenawati as per the Hindu rituals. “This is true Kashmir culture. We share brotherhood and deep bond with the community despite militancy in Kashmir that forced majority of the Pandits out of Valley”, said Ghulam Nabi, a local resident.

“We do not believe in duality or divisive politics. Muslims helped us again today as they have been helping us in the past,” said Manoj Nath, a close relative of deceased.

“We are living like brothers since time immemorial and whatever the conditions were. We continued to remain as brothers”, Ghulam Rasool, another local resident said.
