'Army paid befitting tribute to late Sowar Vijay Kumar, who made the supreme sacrifice during a counter terrorist operation on August 3, 2018, in Sopore, wherein two terrorists were eliminated,' a defence spokesman said.
Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen A K Bhatt and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation, he said.
The spokesman said in a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the slain soldier.
Kumar had sustained a bullet injury during the fierce gun battle between militants and security forces in Dursoo village yesterday.

In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Corps Commander, Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the slain soldier, said a spokesman.
In a show of solidarity, officials and representatives from the State Government and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the slain soldier, he said.
“Late Sep Manjinder Singh sustained bullet injury during the fierce operation at Waltingu in Kulgam District.
