The cash-strapped Mormugao Municipal Council is contemplating to implement ‘Pay Parking’ system in the port town to generate revenue. Mormugao chairperson Girish Borker along with officials of PWD, RTO and Mormugao Traffic PI Shailesh Narvekar on Tuesday carried out a joint inspection of major roads in order to implement the ‘Pay Parking’. After the inspection, Borker said that the few citizens may oppose the proposal but it will bring discipline in road traffic and generate revenue for the municipality. He said that Vasco town had always been congested and people park their vehicles in a haphazard manner. Many a time parking places are occupied by rent-a-bike and rent-a-car operators for a long time and they will be asked to follow proper rules. The municipal council has now decided to make all these things straight and start ‘Pay Parking’ system.
