The Sanjivani Sugar Factory that had been shut down its operation since 2019-20 has launched various new initiatives to generate revenue. As part of these initiatives the factory has launched fish farming on Friday. This comes after its earlier project of vegetable and fruit production. The fish breeding unit was launched using the abandoned pits which were dug some two decade back. Three such pits will be used for fish farming. The officials of Fisheries Department and administrator of Sanjivani Sugar Factory Satej Kamat launched the fish farming unit. Around 1500 seeds of various fish such as rohu, catla and common carp were scattered in the fish breeding pits, officials of fisheries department said. The various types of fish will take six months to grow to a weight of around 1.5 kg.
