Ponda police have booked local municipality councillor Venkatesh Naik for allegedly outraging modesty of women after a verbal spat broke out between him and locals of Ashem-Bethoda over a property issue. Police said, on Sunday, when Naik allegedly stopped some minor boys from playing on the ground at Ashem. Naik also verbally abused villagers and made sexually-coloured remarks against women, said police. Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, Naik claimed that he has been framed to restrain him from developing his property at Ashem.
