Tribal leaders gave a seven-day ultimatum within which to issue a notification reserving four seats for the scheduled tribe community of Goa in the state legislative assembly before the Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he will be meeting the Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on February 23 in Delhi with the proposal for the political reservation. Tribal leaders, Rupesh Velip, Rama Kankonkar and Ramkrishna Jalmi, warned the CM that if he failed to convince the Central government to issue a final notification, the tribal panchayats from across Goa would decide its future course of action.
