ഉപഭോഗത്തിലെ വര്ധന തുടര്ന്നാല് ഈ വര്ഷം തന്നെ ലോകത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ എണ്ണ ഉപഭോഗ രാജ്യമായി ഇന്ത്യ മാറിയേക്കും.നിലവില് മൂന്നാം സ്ഥാനത്താണ്. വാഹനങ്ങള്ക്കാവശ്യമായ ഇന്ധന ഉപഭോഗവും എല്.പി.ജി. ഉപഭോഗവും വര്ധിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ എണ്ണ ആവശ്യകത കൂടാന് ഇടയാക്കുന്നത്. 2018-ല് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ശരാശരി പ്രതിദിന എണ്ണ ഉപഭോഗം 2,45,000 ബാരലാണെന്ന് ഊര്ജ രംഗത്തെ കണ്സള്ട്ടന്സി സ്ഥാപനമായ വൂഡ് മെക്കന്സിയുടെ റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു.
14 ശതമാനമാണ് എണ്ണ ആവശ്യകതയിലെ വര്ധന.
ഇന്ത്യയിലെ എണ്ണ ആവശ്യകതയിലെ വര്ധന ഇതേ നിലയില് തുടര്ന്നാല് ഈ വര്ഷം തന്നെ ലോകത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ എണ്ണ ഉപഭോക്താക്കളായ ചൈനയെ രാജ്യം മറികടക്കും. അമേരിക്കയാണ് അസംസ്കൃത എണ്ണ ഉപഭോഗത്തില് ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനത്ത്.യു.എസ്. എനര്ജി ഇന്ഫര്മേഷന് അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേഷന്റെ കണക്കുപ്രകാരം 2017-18 സാമ്ബത്തിക വര്ഷം 20.62 കോടി ടണ്ണാണ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ എണ്ണ ഉപഭോഗം. 2017 ഏപ്രില് - ഡിസംബര് പാദത്തില് പെട്രോളിയം ഉത്പന്നങ്ങളുടെ ഉപഭോഗം 15.74 കോടി ടണ്ണാണ്. മുന് വര്ഷവുമായി താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യുമ്ബോള് 2.5 ശതമാനമാണ് വര്ധന.
