Around 200 residents of Sancoale on Sunday came together to protest against a mega residential project coming up in Savarfond ward of the panchayat. They alleged that the secretary of the panchayat has issued NOC for the project without verifying whether the project has necessary permissions from other departments concerned. The locals demanded that the secretary should revoke the NOC issued for the mega project. They said that permissions from the electricity, water department, PDA have not been granted for the project while the panchayat went out of its way to accommodate a huge project without understanding whether it is feasible or not. Three panchas have also extended their support to the villagers. As per the villagers, the project comprises at least 650 flats and 70 villas and the height of the building will be around 13 floors with swimming pools. 'Allowing such a huge project, that will accommodate thousands of people, without giving a thought to the burden that it will put on village infrastructure, is totally unacceptable,' they said.
