Terming the contamination of the River Ragada as an emergency situation, the Sacorda villagers, on Sunday, demanded an urgent alternative to supply them with potable water. During the gram sabha, the panchayat resolved to take action against illegal fish pits belonging to the fish factory that have allegedly contaminated the river, while assuring the villagers to put in all efforts to provide them with clean and safe water. The gram sabha began with the villagers protesting against the sarpanch for not attending the meeting.
