Bass became famous for his motion picture film posters, credit sequences and corporate logos.

Google on Wednesday celebrated the 93rd birthday of American graphic designer and filmmaker Saul Bass with one of its most elaborate Google Doodles till date.

The 1 minute 20 seconds doodle animates Google's logo in different styles, playing on the designer's best-known designs for film credits, film posters and corporate logos.

The video plays to the tunes of Unsquare Dance, a musical piece written by the American jazz composer Dave Brubeck.
Born on May 8, 1920, into an immigrant family in New York's Bronx, Bass started his career by working in print for film adverts in Hollywood during the 1940s.

A breakthrough came in the film industry when he was hired by Otto Preminger in 1954 to create an innovative title sequence for the credits of the film, Carmen Jones, which he did using an animated flaming rose.
He made a mark for himself in Hollywood after creating the title sequence for Otto Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm in 1955. Bass pioneered the concept of animated sequence for credit rolls in films.

Until the 1950s, the usual method for film credits was to present names and titles on cards, or against an unmoving backdrop.

During his prolific career spanning five decades, Bass had worked with directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Martin .
