ലോകത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ തല മാറ്റിവെക്കല്‍ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ വിജയകരമായി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി. ചൈനയില്‍ 18 മണിക്കൂര്‍ നീണ്ട ശസ്ത്രകൃയക്കൊടുവിലാണ് വിജയം കണ്ടത്. ചൈനയിലെ ഹാര്‍ബിന്‍ ആരോഗ്യസര്‍വ്വകലാശാലയിലെ ഡോ ഷ്യോപിങ് റെനിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള സംഘമാണ് മനുഷ്യന്റെ തലമാറ്റിവെക്കല്‍ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തിയത്. രണ്ടു മൃതദേഹങ്ങളിലായാണ് പരീക്ഷണം നടത്തിയത്. ഒരു മൃതദേഹേത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് മുറിച്ചു മാറ്റിയ തല മറ്റൊരു ശരീരരത്തില്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഞരമ്പുകളും, രക്തക്കുഴലുകളും, സ്‌പൈനുമെല്ലാം കൃത്യമായി യോജിപ്പിക്കാനായി ശസ്ത്രകൃയക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കിയ ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ പറയുന്നു. നാഡികളിലുണ്ടായ വൈദ്യുത ഉത്തേജനം ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ വിജയിച്ചതിന് തെളിവാണെന്നും സംഘം അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു.
