പാളയം പള്ളിയെന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ജുമ മസ്ജിദ്.ലോകത്തെ പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പള്ളിയെന്ന അര്‍ത്ഥമുള്ള മസ്ജിദ് ജിഹാന്‍ നുമ എന്നാണ് പള്ളിയുടെ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥ പേര്.പാളയം പള്ളിക്കു സമീപം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ക്രിസ്ത്യന്‍ പള്ളിയും ക്ഷേത്രവും മതസൗഹാര്‍ദ്ദത്തിന്റെ അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു
എഡി 1813ല്‍ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഇന്ത്യ സെക്കന്റ് റെജിമെന്റാണ് ഇവിടെ ഒരു ചെറിയ പള്ളി സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നത്.
പട്ടാളപ്പള്ളി എന്ന പേരിലാണ് ആദ്യകാലത്ത് ഈ പള്ളി അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്.കാലകാലം മാറിമാറിയെത്തിയ പട്ടാള റെജിമെന്റുകള്‍ പള്ളിയുടെ പുനരുദ്ധാനപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിപ്പോന്നു.200 വര്‍ഷത്തെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട് ഈ പള്ളിക്കെന്ന് ചരിത്രരേഖകള്‍ പറയുന്നു.ദക്ഷിണ കേരളത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായി സ്ത്രീകള്ക്ക് പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാനായി പ്രവേശനം അനുവദിച്ച് മുസ്ലീം ദേവാലയമാണ് പാളയം പള്ളി
1967ല്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്ന ഡോ സക്കീര്‍ ഹുസൈനാണ് ഇന്ന് കാണുന്ന പള്ളിയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചത്

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ മുസ്ലീം ദേവാലയമായ ഡൽഹി ജുമാ മസ്ജിദ് ,മസ്ജിദ് ഇ ജഹൻ നുമ എന്ന പേരിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. ലോകത്തെ പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഇടം എന്നാണ് ഇതിനർഥം.മുഗൾ ചക്രവർത്തിയായിരുന്ന ഷാജഹാനാണ് ഈ നിര്‍മ്മിതിക്ക് പിന്നില്‍. ചെങ്കോട്ടക്ക് എതിര്‍വശത്തായി ചാന്ദ്നി ചൗക്കിലാണ് ഡൽഹി ജുമാ മസ്ജിദ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 1644 നും 1656 നും അയ്യായിരത്തോളം ആളുകളുടെ 12 വർഷത്തെ പരിശ്രമ ഫലമായാണ് ഈ പള്ളിയുടെ നിര്‍മാണം പൂര്‍ത്തിയായത്. 1656 ഇലാണ് ഉത്ഘാടനം നടന്നത്
ഷാജഹാന്റെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ നിർമ്മിതികളിൽ ഒന്നുകൂടിയായ ഈ പള്ളി നിര്‍മിക്കാന്‍ അന്നത്തെ കാലത്ത് ഒരു മില്യൺ രൂപയാണ് ചിലവുവന്നത്
മുഗൾ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ അവസാനം വരെ രാജകീയ ദേവാലയമായാണ് ഇതിനെ കരുതിയിരുന്നത്. മൂന്നു പ്രവേശന കവാടങ്ങളും നാലു മിനാരങ്ങളും ഖുബ്ബകളും കൂടിയതാണ് ഈ ജുമാ മസ്ജിദ് ആയിരം ആളുകൾക്ക് ഒരു സമയം നിസ്കരിക്കാം പുറത്ത് 25000 ആളുകള്‍ക്കും പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയും. ചെങ്കല്ലും വെളുത്ത മാർബിളുമാണ് ഈ മസ്ജിദിന്റെ നിര്‍മിതിയില്‍ കൂടുതലും. രാവിലെ ഏഴു മണി മുതൽ 12 വരെയും ഉച്ച കഴിഞ്ഞ് 1.30 മുതൽ 6.30 ഇവിടെ പ്രവേശനാനുമതിയുണ്ട്.
