That's right guys, Sam-Taylor Wood is the woman who will be in charge of one of the most highly anticipated movie adaptations of all time.

So just who is the woman who will be bringing our beloved Christian and Anastasia to life? Here's what we know: She's 46, previously directed the John Lennon biopic 'Nowhere Boy', and get this -- she's married to 'Kick-Ass' and 'Savages' star Aaron Johnson.

In a statement, the new director talked about how stoked she is to be taking on the job, saying QUOTE: 'I'm excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen... For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika's book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin too.'
Now, in case you haven't read the novel, the story follows an S&M themed love affair between a young student and a mysterious billionaire. And while there is no word on who will be playing the roles of Anastasia or Christian, Author E L James tweeted that she is 'delighted and thrilled' with the choice of Sam-Taylor-Wood as director!

There are several actors in Hollywood rumored to be up for the lead roles. Alexis Bledel, Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum and Lucy Hale are top picks for Anastasia. And, Matt Bomer, Man of Steel himself Henry Cavill, Alexander Pettyfer and Ian Somerhalder are all fan fav.
