When it comes to Dumb & Dumber, Warner Brothers' trash is Universal's treasure.
We recently reported to you that Warner Bros was bailing on their plans to make a sequel to the Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels comedy classic, Dumb And Dumber. And while that sounded kinda like a negative, we were really confident that another studio would likely pick up the project sooner than later. Well, today, Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has closed a deal for domestic distribution for Dumb And Dumber To. The script was originally written by Sean Anders and John Morris, but the original writer and director duo, the Farrelly Brothers rewrote the new script and will also be back to direct. The hero in all of this is financier, Red Granite, who most recently financed the newest Martin Scorsese/Leonardo Dicaprio crime drama, Wolf of Wall Street. Red Granite is apparently putting up around $35 Million for the sequel, and since these announcements have been happening quickly, many are speculating that production will begin very, very soon because both leading men have other big projects coming up. Jeff Daniels will be returning to the very popular HBO series, The Newsroom, and Jim Carrey will soon be working on a big heist movie for Relativity where he will star alongside Owen Wilson. So, timing is everything in regards to this project! So, is everyone happy out there that we will finally see the sequel to Dumb And Dumber? .
