मध्य प्रदेश की महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री अर्चना चिटनीस पवित्र ग्रंथ रामायण लिखने वाले महर्षि वाल्मिकी पर बयान देकर विवादों में फंस गई हैं. इस विवादास्पद बयान के बाद से वाल्मिकी समाज काफी गुस्से में है. हालांकि बाद में उन्होंने माफी मांग ली.दरअसल मंत्री अर्चना चिटनिस मंदसौर में वाल्मिकी समाज के राष्ट्रीय अधिवेशन में भाग लेनें आई थीं. अर्चना महर्षि वाल्मीकि के इतिहास का जिक्र कर रही थी. अर्चना ने भाषण के दौरान महर्षि वाल्मिकी को डाकू रत्नाकर बोल दिया. इतना सुनते ही वहां मौजूद वाल्मिकी समाज के लोग भड़क गए और बीच कार्यक्रम में ही हंगामा करने लगे.बवाल बढ़ता देख अर्चना चिटनिस मंच से ही माफी माफी की गुहार लगाने लगीं. वाल्मिकी समाज के लोगों का आक्रोश देखकर मंत्री अर्चना चिटनिस इतना घबरा गईं कि स्टेज पर ही जहर पीने की बात करने लगीं.उन्होंने कहा, ''मेरी वाल्मीकिजी के प्रति पूरी आस्था है. मुझसे मानवीय त्रुटि हुई होगी तो मुझ विष दे दो.'' कार्यक्रम के बाद अर्चना चिटनीस ने मीडिया के सामने भी अपने बयान पर माफी मांगी.अर्चना चिटनिस के बयान ने वाल्मिकी समाज के लोगों की भावनाओं को ठेस पहुंचाई है. अब वाल्मिकी समाज के लोगों ने इसकी शिकायत बीजेपी के शीर्ष नेतृत्व तक पहुंचाने की बात कही है..
