Bernadette Nolan, a member of singing sister act The Nolans, has died of cancer at age 52.
The singer's management agency, Urban Associates, said in a statement that Nolan died Thursday surrounded by her family.
Universally known as Bernie, Nolan was raised in Blackpool, northwestern England, and began performing with her family when she was a child.
The Nolans had a worldwide hit in 1979 with I'm In the Mood For Dancing and gained large followings from Britain to Japan.
Nolan left in 1994 to focus on an acting career that included a role on soap opera Brookside and parts in stage musicals including Blood Brothers and Chicago.
In 2010 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which later spread.
Nolan is survived by her husband, Steve Doneathy, and their daughter, Erin.

'Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her,' said a spokesperson for the family.
'The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable.'
Nolan turned to acting following 20 years leading the original six-strong Irish girl group The Nolans, and a string of hits including I'm in the Mood for Dancing and Don't Make Waves.
She left the group in 1994, and took to the stage, performing in productions including Blood Brothers in London's West End.

Born on 17 October 1960, she grew up in Ireland, performing as a family troupe with her five sisters and two brothers. Her father Tommy would go on to be the Nolans' manager - but after his death, eldest sister Anne revealed he had sexually abused her from the age of 11.
Nolan turned to acting following 20 years fronting the Irish all-girl group and a string of hits including 1979's I'm in the Mood for Dancing and Don't Make Waves.
She left the group in 1994, and took to the stage, performing in productions including Blood Brothers in London's West End, Flashdance and a UK tour of Chicago the Musical.

The five siblings began performing as the Nolan Sisters in 1974 and gained priceless exposure to a mainstream audience from appearing on Cliff Richard's television programme, and then with Morecambe and Wise and the Two Ronnies. They were the support act on Frank Sinatra's 1975 European tour and accompanied Rolf Harris on dates in South Africa.

Their earliest singles on EMI and Target Records misfired, but in 1978 they reached No 3 on the UK album chart with 20 Giant Hits, a set of cover versions of pop standards such as Sailing, The Way We Were and Song Sung Blue. That year, Denise Nolan left the group to develop a solo career, and the others continued as a quartet. In 1979, the group competed to perform the UK's entry for the Eurovision song contest, and their song Harry My Honolulu Lover was regarded as certain to earn them selection.
