ഇന്ത്യയിൽ പാറിച്ച മാരുതിയുടെ ആദ്യ 7 സീറ്റർ മൾട്ടിപർപ്പസ് വാഹനമാണ് എർട്ടിഗ.
2012 ലാണ് എർട്ടിഗ വിപണിയിലെത്തിയത്. ആറുവർഷം കൊണ്ട് 4 ലക്ഷത്തിലേറെ എർട്ടിഗകൾ മാരുതിക്കു വിറ്റഴിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു. എർട്ടിഗയ്ക്കു ശേഷം ഇതേ ജനുസ്സിൽപ്പെട്ട നിരവധി എംപിവികൾ നിരത്തിലെത്തിയെങ്കിലും ഒന്നിനും എർട്ടിഗയുടെ വിൽപന നേടാനായില്ല. 7 സീറ്ററാണെങ്കിലും ഒരു ചെറിയ സെഡാന്റെ ക്യാരക്‌ടേഴ്‌സാണ് എർട്ടിഗയ്ക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. അതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നെയാവാം, ഈ വാഹനം കുടുംബങ്ങളുടെ പ്രിയ വാഹനമായി മാറിയതും. ആറു വർഷത്തിനു ശേഷം നിരവധി പുതുമകളോടെ എർട്ടിഗയ്ക്ക് പുനർജന്മം നൽകിയിരിക്കുകയാണിപ്പോൾ മാരുതി. എഞ്ചിനടക്കം മാറിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്. രണ്ടാം അങ്കത്തിന് എർട്ടിഗ സുസജ്ജം എന്നു ചുരുക്കം. ഇഗ്‌നിസ്, ബലേനോ, സ്വിഫ്റ്റ്, ഡിസയർ എന്നിവയൊക്കെ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഹാർട്ട്‌ടെക്ക് 5 എന്ന പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോമിലാണ് പുതിയ എർട്ടിഗയുടെ ജനനം. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഭാരത്തിൽ 20 കിലോയോളം കുറവു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്നു തന്നെയുമല്ല പുതിയ പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോം കാരണം എർട്ടിഗ മൊത്തത്തിൽ ഒന്നു വലുതാവുകയും ചെയ്തു. 90 മി.മീ. നീളവും 40 മി.മീ വീതിയും 5 മി.മീ ഉയരവുമാണ് വർദ്ധിച്ചത്. ബൂട്ട് സ്‌പേസും 50 ശതമാനത്തോളം വർദ്ധിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ വീൽബെയ്‌സിൽ മാറ്റമുണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല. 2740 മീ.മീറ്ററായി വീൽബെയ്‌സ് തുടരുന്നു.
വലുപ്പം വർദ്ധിച്ചതൊന്നും ഒറ്റനോട്ടത്തിൽ വ്യക്തമല്ലെങ്കിലും പുതുമകൾ നിരവധി കണ്ടെത്താം, എർട്ടിഗയുടെ എക്സ്റ്റീരിയറിൽ.
