This took place at the Gallery Zaum in Newport, Kentucky, only about 30 miles from where I live in Cincinnati. I made this for my News & Documentary class, but I had two partners: Dan Smith and Kyle Howland, and another groupmate who couldn't make the shoot or edit session.
It uses a lot of the techniques we've been learning in class and it has another round of polish-edits to go through, so there should be another edit eventually. We intend to fix a few parts that might seem offensive to the people involved.

Herman Melville (August 1, 1819 -- September 28, 1891) was an American novelist, short story writer, essayist, and poet. He is best known for his novel Moby-Dick. His first three books gained much contemporary attention (the first, Typee, becoming a bestseller), and after a fast-blooming literary success in the late 1840s, his popularity declined precipitously in the mid-1850s and never recovered during his lifetime. When he died in 1891, he was almost completely forgotten. It was not until the 'Melville Revival' in the early 20th century that his work won recognition, especially Moby-Dick, which was hailed as one of the literary masterpieces of both American and world literature. He was the first writer to have his works collected and published by the Library of America.

Moby Dick is a notable Serbian pop-dance band. It is named for the well-known novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville.
Moby Dick was formed in 1992. initially as a six-member band. They released their first album Kreni in 1993. In 1994, Ana Stani? joined the band as female vocal. The band was transformed to duet as other members from initial lineup left. The second album, Moby Dick was released that year and was a great success, selling in more than 200.000 copies. It included hits like Nema nas vise, Brate prijatelju, Bacila si ?ini and controversial Kralj Kokaina which was banned from some TV and radio stations. The band toured extensively during this period, which culminated with a sell-out concert in Sava Center in Belgrade.
In 1997 they release their third album, Nostalgija, which included hits like Nostalgija, Ubio sam ?oveka zbog tebe and Padrino. In 1998 Ana Stani? left and was replaced with Aleksandra Perovi?. . They released two albums, IV in 2000. and Hotelska soba in 2001. After their last album, Sr?an decided to pursue his career as a studio manager and a producer, while Aleksandra started her solo career. She has recently released her first solo album. It is still unclear if she will record on future Moby Dick albums.

The classic novel Moby Dick, classified as American romanticism, is a symbolic allegory with exemplary commentary on human destiny and universe.
Each character in the novel has symbolic significance. And the plot of the novel revolves around the protagonist Ishmael, an enagmatic character, and his adventure filled voyages on the whaleship Pequod that was under the command of Captain Ahab. Captain Ahab's prime purpose was to find Moby Dick, a violent, mysterious white sperm whale.
The novelist has created a profound and philosophical tale and used many references and metaphor to tell this story.
Today's Google doodle depicts the white sperm whale in a vague way on the background of the Google home page.
Furthermore, the Google Moby Dick doodle portraits Captain Ahab, along with his crew, in a whaling boat holding a harpoon in his hands ready to attack the white sperm whale.
The white whale is seen swimming in the sea close to the whaleship and pumping out water. The pumped out water forms the letter 'L' of the Google logo.

Search engine marks anniversary of initially neglected masterpiece's publication in Britain in 1951.
One of the great classics of American literature Herman Melville's Moby-Dick has been celebrated in the latest Google doodle.
The search engine's tribute to Melville's best known work coincides with the 161st anniversary of the novel's first publication in Britain in 1851. The doodle depicts a scene from the book in which Captain Ahab commandeers a boat to strike at the huge white whale.
The tribute also coincides with an ambitious project to record all 135 chapters of the novel over 135 days, with readings by famous fans including David Cameron, Tilda Swinton, Stephen Fry and Simon Callow broadcast daily online.
Melville's masterpiece is narrated by the sailor Ishmael, telling of his voyage on the whaling ship the Pequod, under Captain Ahab. Ishmael soon discovers that Ahab has one purpose on his voyage, to seek revenge on the ferocious sperm whale, Moby-Dick, who bit off his leg.
Through the journey of the main characters, the concepts of class and social status, good and evil, and the existence of God are all examined as the main characters speculate upon their personal beliefs and their places in the universe.
