കോഴിക്കോട് തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപകാലത്തെ കപ്പല്‍ജോലിക്കാരുടെ ഗസ്റ്റ് ഹൗസ് നിലനിന്നിരുന്നതിന്റെ തൊട്ടടുത്തുതന്നെയാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ നാവികരുടെ കേന്ദ്രവും നിര്‍മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കടല്‍യാത്രയ്ക്കിടെ ജീവന്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെവരുടെ സ്മാരകവും ഇതിനോടുചേര്‍ന്ന് സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കടലില്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്ന ബോയകളും കപ്പലില്‍നിന്നുള്ള സാധനങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയിരുന്ന ട്രോളികളും സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ഷെഡ്ഡുകള്‍ ഇതിനു സമീപത്താണ്. ഇതുകൂടെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചു കോഴിക്കോട് തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പുകള്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തുകയാണ് നാവികരുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം.

1964 മുതല്‍ ഇവിടെ സീമെന്‍ വെല്‍ഫെയര്‍ സെന്ററിന് ശ്രമം തുടങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോഴാണ് മര്‍ച്ചന്റ് നേവി ക്ലബ്ബ് എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കെങ്കിലും എത്തുന്നത്.മര്‍ച്ചന്റ് നേവി ക്ലബ്ബില്‍നിന്ന് അല്‍പം അകലെയുള്ള കോഴിക്കോട് തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രസ്മാരകമാണ് പോര്‍ട്ട് ഓഫീസറുടെ ബംഗ്ലാവ്. 1860-ലാണ് ബീച്ച് ആശുപത്രിയോടുചേര്‍ന്നുള്ള ബംഗ്ലാവു പണിതത്. ഇപ്പോഴും പൂമുഖത്ത് രണ്ട് പീരങ്കികളുമായി ബംഗ്ലാവ് തലയുയര്‍ത്തി നില്‍ക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും പോര്‍ട്ട് ഓഫീസര്‍മാരാരും താമസിക്കുന്നില്ല. നിലമ്പൂരില്‍നിന്നുള്ള തേക്കും ഈട്ടിയും ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ഫര്‍ണിച്ചറുകള്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
