2050 ഓടെ 25 ലക്ഷത്തോളം ആളുകള്‍ ഈ ബാക്ടീരിയബാധ കാരണം മരിക്കുമെന്നാണ് ഒഇസിഡിയുടെ നിര്‍ണായക റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് പറയുന്നത്. ഈ രോഗാണുബാധയുടെ ചികിത്സയ്ക്കായി 3.5 ബില്യണ്‍ ഡോളര്‍ ഓരോ കൊല്ലവും ചിലവാക്കേണ്ടി വരുമെന്നാണ് കണക്ക്.ആന്റിബയോട്ടിക് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ഔഷധങ്ങളെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന സൂക്ഷ്മാണുക്കളുടെ എണ്ണം വര്‍ധിക്കുന്നത് 2030 ഓടെ നാലു മുതല്‍ ഏഴു വരെ തവണ ഇരട്ടിയായെന്നാണ്‌ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ പഠനനിഗമനം. ആന്റിബയോട്ടിക്കുകളുടെ ദുരുപയോഗവും അമിതോപയോഗവും നിയന്ത്രിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില്‍ നേരിടേണ്ടിവരുന്നത് ഗുരുതര പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങളായിരിക്കുമെന്നാണ് വിദഗ്ധസംഘത്തിന്റെ മുന്നറിയിപ്പ്.ലക്ഷക്കണക്കിനാളുകളുടെ ജീവനു ഭീഷണിയായേക്കാവുന്ന ബാക്ടീരിയയെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനുള്ള മാര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍ അടിയന്തിരമായി നടപ്പാക്കണമെന്നും സംഘം നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചു.
