200 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍പ് 400 അടിമകളുമായി കാണാതായ പോര്‍ച്ചുഗീസ് കപ്പലിന്റെ പുതിയ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ പുറത്ത് വിട്ട് ബി ബി സി.ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയില്‍ നിന്ന് 400 അടിമകളെയും കൊണ്ട് പോയി കാണാതായ 'സാവോ ജോസ് പാക്കിറ്റി ഡി'ആഫ്രിക്ക' എന്ന കപ്പലിന്റെ വിവരങ്ങളാണ് ബി ബി സി പുറത്ത് വിട്ടത്‌. 1794ല്‍ ഡിസംബര്‍ 27ന് 400 മൊസാംബിക്കന്‍ അടിമകളുമായി ബ്രസീലിലേക്ക് പോയ പോര്‍ച്ചുഗീസ് അടിമകപ്പല്‍ , കേപ് പെനിന്‍സുലയിലെ ക്യാമ്ബ്സ് ബേയിലാണ് മുങ്ങി പോയതെന്ന ഒരു ഡോക്യുമെന്റിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് 'സ്ലേവ് റെക്സ് പ്രോജെക്ടസ് ' 'സാവോ ജോസ് കപ്പല്‍ ' തിരയാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. 200 അടിമകളാണ് കപ്പല്‍ അപകടത്തില്‍ മരിച്ചത്. രക്ഷപ്പെട്ട ബാക്കിയുള്ള അടിമകളെ കേപ് ടൗണില്‍ തന്നെ വിറ്റു.തീരത്തു നിന്ന് 50 മീറ്റര്‍ അകലെയാണ് കപ്പല്‍ച്ചേതം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. പരിശോധനയില്‍ സാവോ ജോസ് കപ്പലാണെന്ന് തെളിഞ്ഞു. 2008-ല്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച ആഗോള പുരാവസ്തു ഗവേഷണ ഉദ്യമമാണ് സ്ലേവ് റെക്സ് പ്രോജെക്ടസ്.കണ്ടെത്തിയ കപ്പലിലെ ചില വസ്തുക്കള്‍ വാഷിംഗ്ടണ്‍ ഡിസി-യിലെ സ്മിത്ത്സോണിയന്‍ നാഷണല്‍ മ്യൂസിയം ഓഫ് ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഹിസ്റ്ററി ആന്‍ഡ് കള്‍ച്ചറില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അടിമകളെ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച പൂട്ടുകളും സംഘം കണ്ടെത്തി.സാവോ ജോസ് കണ്ടെത്തിയത് 'ഒരു ഡിറ്റക്ടീവ് കഥപോലെയാണെന്നും കപ്പല്‍ച്ചേതം ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിലെ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഒരു ദേശീയ സ്മാരകമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചതായും ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിലെ മറൈന്‍ പുരാവസ്തു ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ ജാക്കോ ബോഷോഫ് പറയുന്നു. കേപ് ടൗണിലെ സ്ലേവ് ലോഡ്ജിലെ ചരിത്ര മ്യൂസിയത്തില്‍ സാവോ ജോസ് വസ്തുക്കള്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കാനാണ് അവരുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം.അടിമകളുമായി പോയ കപ്പലിനെ കുറിച്ച്‌ പുരാവസ്തുശാസ്ത്ര സംബന്ധിയായ ഒരു ഡോക്യുമെന്റേഷന്‍ ഇതാദ്യമാണെന്നും ,ഇതിനെ ഒരു സുപ്രധാന കണ്ടുപിടിത്തമായി കാണുന്നതായും ബിബിസി ഗാല്ലറി ഫീച്ചര്‍ പറയുന്നു.
