യാത്രാവേളയിലും അപകടങ്ങളുണ്ടാകുമ്പോഴും മറ്റും യാത്രക്കാര്‍ പുറത്തേക്ക് തെറിച്ചുവീഴുന്നത് തടയാന്‍ ഡോറുകള്‍, ഇടിയുടെ ആഘാതത്തില്‍ ഡ്രൈവര്‍ക്കും യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്കുമുണ്ടാകുന്ന പരിക്ക് കുറയ്ക്കാന്‍ സീറ്റ് ബെല്‍റ്റ് എന്നിവ ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷകളില്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധമാക്കാനാണ് കേന്ദ്ര ഗതാഗത മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ നീക്കം.

നേരിട്ടുള്ള കൂട്ടിയിടിയില്‍ ഹാന്‍ഡില്‍ബാറില്‍ നെഞ്ചിടിച്ചും ആന്തരിക അവയവങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തകരാറ് പറ്റിയുമാണ് ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷയില്‍ മരണങ്ങള്‍ സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്. സീറ്റ് ബെല്‍റ്റ് ഒരുപരിധിവരെ ഡ്രൈവര്‍ക്ക് സുരക്ഷയര്‍പ്പിക്കും.
കേന്ദ്ര ഗതാഗത മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ കണക്കുപ്രകാരം കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം 29,351 ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷാ അപകടങ്ങളിലായി 6762 ജീവനുകളാണ് നിരത്തില്‍ പൊലിഞ്ഞത്. ഡോറുകള്‍ ഇല്ലാത്തതിനാല്‍ ചെറിയ അപകടമാണെങ്കില്‍ പോലും യാത്രക്കാര്‍ ഓട്ടോകളില്‍ നിന്ന് തെറിച്ചുവീണ് മാരകമായി പരിക്കേല്‍ക്കാറുണ്ട്.
ഈ സാധ്യത ഇല്ലാതാക്കാനാണ് ഡോറുകള്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധമാക്കുന്നത്.
