നീ തനിച്ചല്ല നിനക്ക് ചുറ്റും നിന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരായിരം പേര്‍ ഇനിയുമുണ്ട് എന്ന് പെണ്ണ് ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം. കോടതിയും നിയമവും മറ്റെന്തിനെനേക്കാള്‍ പെണ്ണിനൊപ്പം നിന്ന വര്‍ഷം. ഒന്നല്ല എടുത്തു പറയാന്‍ അഭിമാനിക്കാന്‍ അവള്‍ ദുര്‍ബലയല്ലെന്ന് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പറയുന്ന നിരവധി പെണ്‍മുന്നേറ്റങ്ങളുണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട് 2018 ല്‍. അതില്‍ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒന്നായിരുന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടുവയസില്‍ താഴെയുള്ള പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളെ ബലാത്സംഗം ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് വധശിക്ഷയെന്ന നിയമഭേദഗതി. എപ്രിലില്‍ കൊണ്ടു വന്ന ഓർഡിനന്‍സ് ഓഗസ്റ്റില്‍ പാസാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ 12 വയസില്‍ താഴെയുള്ള പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളെ ബലാത്സംഗം ചെയ്താല്‍ പരമാവധി ശിക്ഷ 20 വര്‍ഷമായി ഉയര്‍ത്തി.
പോലീസിന്റെ പിഴവുകൊണ്ട് മരിച്ച മകനുവേണ്ടി നീതി തേടി ഒരു പെറ്റമ്മ നടത്തിയ പോരാട്ടം വിജയം കണ്ടതും ഇതേ വര്‍ഷമാണ്.
ഒരു സ്വകാര്യ സ്‌കൂളിലെ ആയ ആയിരുന്ന പ്രഭാവതിയമ്മയാണ് മകന്‍ ഉദയകുമാറിനെ പോലീസുകാര്‍ ഉരുട്ടി കൊലപ്പെടുത്തിയതിനെതിരേ നിയമപോരാട്ടം നടത്തിയത്. ഉദയകുമാറിനെ ഉരുട്ടികൊന്ന ആറുപോലീസുകാരും കുറ്റക്കാരാണെന്നു കോടതി വിധിച്ചത് നിറകണ്ണുകളോടെ ഈ അമ്മ കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അത് പെറ്റവയറിന്റെ നിശ്ചയദാര്‍ഢ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂടി വിജയമായി.
തൊഴിലിടങ്ങളില്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ നേരിട്ടിരുന്ന പീഡനം എല്ല കാലങ്ങളിലും ചര്‍ച്ചയായിരുന്നു. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് വസ്ത്രവ്യാപാര സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍. തുഛമായ വേതനത്തിനു എട്ടും പത്തും മണിക്കൂര്‍ നീണ്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ജോലി സമയത്ത് ഒന്ന് ഇരിക്കാന്‍ പോലുമുള്ള അവകാശം ഇവര്‍ക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ ഇതിനെതിരെ കോഴിക്കോട് മിഠായിത്തെരുവില്‍ നിന്ന് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ച സമരം കേരളം മുഴുവന്‍ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. അതിന് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കിയത് പെണ്‍കൂട്ട് എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെ അമരക്കാരി വിജി പെണ്‍കൂട്ടായിരുന്നു. വിജിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള സമരം വിജയം കാണുക തന്നെ ചെയ്തു. സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് തൊഴിലിടങ്ങളില്‍ ഇരിക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിയമമാക്കി. ലോകത്തെ സ്വാധിനിച്ച നൂറുവനിതകളില്‍ ഒരാളായി വിജിയെ ബിബിസി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
ക്രിസ്തീയ സഭയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തെ തന്നെ വെല്ലുവിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് കൊച്ചിയില്‍ കന്യാസ്ത്രീകള്‍ തെരുവിലിറങ്ങിയതും ഇതേ വര്‍ഷം .
